OC Support UK – General
Forum
We hope that you will find the OC Support UK general forum useful to talk to others, exchange ideas about how to cope with the condition and generally offload about how you are feeling! Jenn Deasington manages this forum and regularly checks it, but we also have a very good set of volunteer ‘regulars’ who all chip in with their helpful supportive thoughts, so you can be sure that someone should respond to you. If you have questions about OC do check out What is OC/ICP? and the list of FAQs, as there is a lot of information there.
The views on this forum are not necessarily endorsed by OC Support UK, but we aim to be non-judgmental, respecting that everyone’s experience will be unique to them. If you are posting a reply to someone it may help you to think about the impact your words may have on them before posting.
We reserve the right to remove or not post a message if we believe that the content isn’t appropriate for a public forum. This is not an easy decision to make as we believe that everyone has the right to be heard. However, we also have to consider what is in the best interests of our members and very occasionally a message will come through that may be particularly upsetting for other people to read. Jenn and I speak together to discuss what we feel is the better action to take if this happens and we will always contact the person who is posting to offer them support.
If you have any concerns about anything that has been written you can email Jenn directly and let her know so that we can support you.
OC Support UK – Precious Memories
In addition to our general forum we also have Precious Memories, for those of you who have been affected by the death of an OC baby. Thankfully stillbirth because of OC is quite rare these days, but we felt that it was important to have somewhere to provide support for bereaved parents, other family members and friends.
Rachael Rawlings manages this forum and, like Jenn, regularly checks it. Here, we also have a fabulous group of ‘regulars’ who also contribute. As with the general forum we aim for a non-judgmental approach that listens to and respects the views of others even if they don’t match our own values and beliefs. Here too, what is written can have a great impact, so please bear this in mind when you read the posts or respond to them. If you have any concerns about anything that has been written you can email Rachael directly and let her know so that we can support you.
We reserve the same right to remove or not post messages as for the general forum.
