Saina Shah

Anubhuti and Bhavit Shah are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their little girl, Saina Shah. Anubhuti says that although she began itching from around 35 weeks of pregnancy her GP didn't take any action when her liver function results became abnormal and it wasn't until she went to Northwick Park Hospital that a midwife there referred her to a consultant who diagnosed OC. Saina discovered OC Support UK, which she says was invaluable in providing her with more information about the condition. Anubhuti was induced at 37 weeks and three days and Saina was born a few days later weighing 6 lb 6 oz.

Zoe Carroll

The Carroll family from Manchester would like to announce the safe arrival of baby Zoe, who was born on 25 May at 37 weeks 2 days, only 5 days after OC was diagnosed. Says Zoe: 'I had a spontaneous labour after a sweep, with bile salts over 100 and rising despite Urso. I am positive that I had OC with my 3rd son Ben as well, as I had identical symptoms, but was only offered one liver function test (which was fine) and no check of bile acids, and I didn't know to question this at the time. Thank heavens he's here today as I didn't have any treatment and he was born on his due date in April 2007.'

Jennifer Briegoos

Sandra and Ian are delighted to announce the safe arrival of baby Jennifer Ann who was born on 25 June at Southend Hospital, weighing 9 lb 3 oz. She joins a big brother, Daniel. Sandra didn't itch in this pregnancy and is very glad that she didn't have to cope with OC again. She hopes this may help to reassure other women that you don't always develop the condition just because you have it had in a previous pregnancy.

Sophie Finlayson

Louise Reynolds & David Finlayson would like to share these photos of their daughter, Sophie Louise Finlayson. She was born on 18 March 2009 at 6:10 p.m., weighing 8 lb 1 oz at Ormskirk Hospital. Says Louise, 'I was very ill from 32 weeks onwards and was sent to the hospital by the community midwife for monitoring due to high blood pressure, protein in my urine, headaches and feeling generally ill. The doctors found I had high bile acids and suspected cholestasis. My results went up and down for weeks and I was only officially diagnosed at 40+2 after developing the itch. I delivered at 40+3 not knowing what cholestasis was. It was only when I found your website after Sophie's birth that I found out how serious cholestasis is.
